Cycling Tourism 101

Self-Supported

Self-supported bicycle travel – also known as bike touring or bikepacking – is a style of travel where cyclists carry their gear in bags attached to the bike. This kind of travel is characterized by constant movement, with the riding itself being the destination, and most self-supported bike travelers spend a single night (sometimes two) in each overnight location. Most self-supported bike travelers follow routes mapped by organizations like Adventure Cycling or Bikepacking Roots, while some design their own routes or follow whatever road is most convenient to get to their destination!

RideandWalk4Art 2021

Save the Date!
March 21, 2021

We are optimistic about 2021, and so we have scheduled a Ride & Walk 4 Art “Get out of the house!” ride for March 21, 2021. We will be strictly observing all health protocols at that time to keep you and our volunteers safe as houses.

Ride  Walk 4 Art is a fun way to help Calaveras County public schools provide meaningful art instruction to our kids. You get a joyful ride through beautiful Calaveras County (plus lunch) and every dime of our profits is used to expose kids to theater, painting, drawing, literature and poetry.

Our kids need the arts so that they develop life-long creative skills that they will need to survive in our world. And this year, the need is even greater, as school budgets have been slashed. Please help us keep the arts in our public schools.

Motherlode Bicycle Coalition

The Motherlode Bicycle Coalition is an alliance of people and organizations working to promote cycling and encourage and educate our community to ride bicycles for transportation, recreation, health or just for fun. Our board and partners are passionate about making the Motherlode not just a better place to ride a bike, but a healthier, more prosperous and equitable place to live. We believe that encouraging biking on roads and trails in our communities, parks, and forests will contribute to the economic diversity and prosperity of our historic gold rush towns and region.

The Motherlode Bicycle Coalition is a local unincorporated association and a fiscally sponsored project of the California Bicycle Coalition Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Lodi…An Exceptional Bike Community

Bike Lodi was established in 2015 as part of the Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 Tourism Vision Action Team.

From that initial creation, Bike Lodi has grown and developed into a positive influence in our community by supporting bicycle infrastructure in the Lodi region and bicycling projects for all ages and abilities.
